Penguin Ice Races

Whether it's chilly outside or you just want to cool off on a hot day, penguin ice activities are irresistible for kids! We love ice races for the oral sensory stimulation they provide as well as the fine motor work required. Our children just love the slip sliding penguin antics! This post contains affiliate links. Remember our spider races? They were a huge hit both in our home and on Pinterest! Now that it's winter we're using ice for our aim. We made this even more fun for the kids by freezing penguin ice cubes! Challenge kids to race their penguin to the water the fastest! We used blue paper as finish line. The kids move their ice with their straw and deep breaths. If you'd rather keep things collaborative instead of competitive, invite kids to get all the penguins to dive into the water together. Our kids are having a blast so they don't realize that they are meeting their oral sensory needs. For more sensory ideas check out Sensory Processing 101! Our daughter loves to use this challenge as a calm and quiet solo activity as well. Would your kids rather race the penguins, work together to gather them up, or use this as a quiet time activity? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments below! Looking for more penguin activities for kids?
